Underwritten by Westport Insurance Corporation, an A+ rated insurer headquartered locally in Kansas City. Westport is one of the leading Lawyers Professional Liability insurers in the country and has been actively writing this type of insurance for over 35 years.

Distribution and access will be managed through Lockton Risk Services, Inc. headquartered in Overland Park, KS.
The program has no size limitations so most private practitioners are eligible for the program. Areas of practice do enter into the underwriting equation and a few will not be eligible. Please contact us to discuss if you have questions.

Premium rates have been compared to the filed rates of the larger competitors and our analysis indicates we are very competitive.
The Westport policy form has recently been revised and is now one of the broadest, if not the broadest, offered in the state. Features include:

Disciplinary Proceedings and Loss of Earnings coverage is included.

Equity Interest exclusion applies at a 10% threshold.

Coverage for new (mid-policy term) attorneys is automatic.

A two-way Unlimited Extended Reporting Period.
We can provide indications (but not quotes) off of competitor applications. The program also offers automatic renewals to qualifying accounts. In addition, there is an extremely abbreviated renewal process for most other insureds. This process relieves the lengthy renewal process.
Westport has partnered with the Hinshaw & Culbertson law firm in Chicago (nationally recognized as one of the foremost authorities on LPL risk management) to offer a web-based practice management facility to insured law firms. This capability has won rave reviews from existing customers, especially smaller firms, who value the helpful tools it contains such as downloadable legal forms.
